Welcome to the Rushbrooke with Rougham Parish Website

Rushbrooke with Rougham  is, by land area, one of the two largest Parishes in the Borough of St Edmundsbury, the other being Euston. The Parish, which covers the villages of Rougham and Rushbrooke, is a rural community that extends South East from Moreton Hall  to the boundary of Mid-Suffolk. The Parish boasts three churches, a four star country hotel, one pub, a village shop and post office, a sports hall and playing fields, two children's play areas, the Rougham Aviation Museum and 28 miles of road; the Parish also includes the Rougham Industrial Estate to the north of the A14.

The population in 2021 was estimated at 1769.

There is a ruin of a Roman villa and burial chambers, a Roman road and, excluding the two Anglican churches, which are Grade I listed, there are 31 Grade II listed buildings. Both Rougham and Rushbrooke are mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

A recent survey of the Parish included the question ‘What is the most important thing to you about the Parish and why do you like living here?’ The overwhelming response was that it was quiet, in the middle of the countryside, but very close to Bury St Edmunds and main roads.
